背面描述 The reverse features a portrait bust of a scientist — evoking Georges Claude, the inventor of neon lighting — rendered in low relief at the left of the silver ring, accompanied by depictions of various electric light bulbs and early lighting devices arranged around the periphery. The green niobium centre displays a bold radial sunburst pattern symbolising the fascination of light, with fine engraved lines radiating outward from a central point. The word NEON is inscribed in the upper portion of the silver ring in capital letters, referencing the discovery of neon gas and its application in illumination.

附加信息

Austria's niobium bimetallic series, launched in 2003, was among the first in the world to exploit niobium's capacity to take on different colors through anodization — an electrolytic oxidation process that varies the oxide layer thickness to produce specific wavelengths of reflected light. The 2008 "Fascination with Light" issue used a blue anodization to evoke visible light itself, a choice that required precise voltage control during production; niobium anodization is notoriously sensitive, with small deviations producing measurable color drift across a batch.

Annual mintage was capped at 65,000 pieces.
