The three female figures are shown in an elegant grouping, and among their attributes are a shield bearing the Union Flag, a harp, an oak leaf, a thistle, and a leek, symbolising the constituent nations of the United Kingdom. The denomination 'TWENTY FIVE ECU' is inscribed as the upper legend, with the numeral '25' and the date '1992' appearing in the lower field. Although the Three Graces have never featured on a British circulating coin, their appearance here references the celebrated 1817 pattern coinage tradition. |
