背面描述 A highly detailed panoramic cityscape of Salzburg as seen from the Kapuzinerberg, rendered in finely engraved relief with exceptional cartographic and artistic precision characteristic of the Baroque period. The composition shows the city spread across the middle ground, with Hohensalzburg Fortress prominently visible on the hill to the left, cathedral spires rising above the rooftops, and the Salzach River flowing through the foreground landscape. The foreground is populated with animated figures, livestock, and agricultural elements including a bridge and garden terraces, lending depth and liveliness to the scene. Mountains rise in the background under a clouded sky. The Latin motto legend arcs along the upper portion of the reverse field.

附加信息

Andreas Jakob von Dietrichstein served as Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg from 1747 until his death in 1753 — a tenure of barely six years. Multi-ducat presentation pieces of this denomination were not struck for commerce; they functioned as diplomatic gifts and marks of princely status, distributed to visiting dignitaries and imperial officials. Salzburg's archbishops maintained the right to strike gold coinage under their own authority as sovereign princes of the Holy Roman Empire, and issues like this one were deliberate assertions of that standing.

At 25 ducats, this is among the heaviest gold strikes of the Dietrichstein episcopate. The short reign severely constrains surviving numbers.
