Beschrijving keerzijde A finely detailed relief sculpture of a rat is depicted in the centre of the field, rendered in a naturalistic style against a dark polished background. Decorative lattice or basket-weave panels frame the composition at the upper left, upper right, and lower right, evoking traditional Chinese motifs. The Chinese cyclical year characters 戊子 appear to the right of the central motif, identifying the Year of the Rat. The denomination '$25' is inscribed in the lower left field, with the legend '5 TROY OZ 999 FINE SILVER' running along the lower rim.

Aanvullende informatie

Singapore's lunar series coins are struck by the Singapore Mint under commission from the MAS, with the Year of the Rat issues from 2008 carrying particular collector weight — the Rat opens the twelve-year zodiac cycle, making that year's release the notional "reset" of the series. The 155.52g specification places this squarely in the five-troy-ounce category, a format the Singapore Mint adopted to compete directly with Australian and Chinese lunar bullion programs that had dominated the Asian collector market through the 1990s and 2000s.
