Additional information

Hutt River Province declared independence from Western Australia in 1970 under Leonard Casley, who styled himself Prince Leonard I after a dispute over wheat production quotas. By 1991, the province's coin program had expanded into overtly commercial numismatic territory, issuing silver pieces on themes bearing no connection to the micronation's own history. The M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System, developed by Vought and deployed by the U.S. Army, had just seen its first major combat use during Operation Desert Storm earlier that year — almost certainly the hook for this issue's timing.
