The Principality of Hutt River was a self-declared micronation in Western Australia, established in 1970 when farmer Leonard Casley seceded from Australia in a dispute over wheat production quotas. By 1991, its commemorative coin program had become a primary revenue source — pieces like this one were never intended to circulate and were sold directly to collectors. The BGM-109 Tomahawk had just seen its most prominent combat deployment during Operation Desert Storm earlier that year, which almost certainly explains the subject choice.
