Additional information

Liberia's early 2000s gold miniature program produced dozens of these small-format collector pieces, most struck by European minting contractors with no meaningful connection to the depicted subjects. Cook's three Pacific voyages reshaped European cartography of the Pacific and ultimately cost him his life at Kealakekua Bay in 1779 — none of which has anything to do with Liberian monetary history.
