Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the Brunei Currency and Monetary Board, which was established in 1967 following the country's decision not to join Malaysia and to maintain its own currency arrangements. Brunei and Singapore have operated a Currency Interchangeability Agreement since that same year, meaning the Brunei dollar has traded at parity with the Singapore dollar continuously — an arrangement that remains in force today.
