Liberia has issued collector gold in small fractional formats since the 1990s, largely through licensing arrangements with European minting and marketing firms rather than through any domestic minting infrastructure. These pieces are produced for the gift and novelty market, not for circulation, and Liberia's nominal face value has no relation to domestic monetary policy.
