Niue's licensing arrangement with the Walt Disney Company has produced dozens of bullion and collector issues since the early 2010s, with Tiana — introduced in the 2009 animated film — among the later additions to the program. The coins are legal tender of Niue but exist entirely as collectibles for the international market; the island's actual economy has relied on New Zealand dollars since 1969.
The .9999 fineness places this above the more common .999 standard, matching the Royal Canadian Mint's benchmark rather than Perth or the U.S. Mint.
