Reverse description The reverse presents an extraordinarily detailed high-relief rendering of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, its three tiered circular eaves and cylindrical drum base depicted with meticulous architectural fidelity. The Chinese characters 祈年殿 appear on a plaque set into the upper tier of the structure, while bursts of celebratory fireworks radiate throughout the field behind the building, rendered in fine relief against the antiqued silver surface. The legend BEIJING – TEMPLE OF HEAVEN arcs along the upper border in Latin characters, with the Chinese characters 天坛 inscribed vertically along the right side. The date 2023 appears in the lower right field.

Additional information

Cook Islands has operated as a prolific vehicle for third-party bullion and numismatic programs since the 1970s, with its licensing arrangements allowing foreign mints and marketers to attach the territory's issuing authority to products largely conceived and distributed elsewhere. This piece belongs squarely to that commercial ecosystem — a five-ounce silver release aimed at the collector market rather than any domestic monetary purpose.

The Temple of Heaven complex in Beijing was completed in 1420 under the Yongle Emperor, who also relocated the imperial capital from Nanjing that same decade.
