Issued on the fiftieth anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, this coin was produced by a Pacific nation that had itself been devastated by the Pacific War — the Solomon Islands were the site of some of the most brutal land and naval combat of the entire conflict, including the Guadalcanal campaign of 1942–43.
