Additional information

Issued to mark the quincentenary of Columbus's first Atlantic crossing, the BVI was one of dozens of small Commonwealth territories that licensed commemorative programs through the Pobjoy Mint in 1992. The sheer volume of Columbus quincentenary issues that year — produced for a sprawling range of Pacific, Caribbean, and Atlantic jurisdictions — has left the secondary market permanently saturated with them.
