| 背面描述 | A dramatic full-sail depiction of the American Continental Navy frigate Bonhomme Richard, shown from a near head-on perspective sailing directly toward the viewer, with billowing sails filling the field and foamy seas rendered in high relief around the hull. Stylized cloud formations flank the vessel on either side, enhancing the sense of motion and naval grandeur. The ship's name BONHOMME RICHARD arcs along the upper legend, while the denomination 25 DOLLARS is inscribed across the lower portion of the reverse field. The design is framed by a decorative dashed border. |

The Bonhomme Richard is remembered almost entirely for one engagement: the September 1779 battle against HMS Serapis off Flamborough Head, during which John Paul Jones reportedly answered a British surrender demand with "I have not yet begun to fight." The ship sank two days after the battle, still lashed to the Serapis it had defeated. Jones never commanded a comparable vessel again.
Solomon Islands issued numerous silver commemoratives in this period under licensing arrangements common to small Pacific nation mints, with the numismatic program bearing little connection to the islands themselves.
