| Obverse description | The obverse presents the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susan Taylor, depicting the monarch in right-facing portrait at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The bust is rendered in refined relief against a polished field, consistent with the Royal Canadian Mint's mature portrait series introduced in 2003. The encircling legend reads ELIZABETH II CANADA D·G·REGINA, with the denomination and country name flanking the portrait. The Latin inscription translates as 'Elizabeth II, Queen by the Grace of God.' |
