Additional information

The Kookaburra bullion program, launched by the Perth Mint in 1990, was originally a silver series — gold Kookaburra issues came later as a premium extension targeting collectors who wanted fractional gold with annually changing reverse designs, a deliberate strategy to discourage melting and sustain secondary market premiums above spot. The 2021 issue falls under Jody Clark's sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, adopted by Australia in 2019, making it among the later coins to carry that effigy before the Queen's death in September 2022 ended the series entirely.
