Reverse description Two nineteenth-century gold prospectors are depicted working a creek bed in a detailed engraved scene evoking the Australian gold rush era. The seated figure in the left foreground crouches low, swirling a shallow pan in the flowing water to separate alluvial gold, while a standing companion to his right leans on a long-handled shovel. The 'P' mintmark of the Perth Mint appears to the left of the design, and the engraver's initials 'WR' are visible in the right field. The arc legend THE LAND DOWN UNDER curves along the upper periphery, with the inscription 1/4oz 9999 GOLD along the lower border.
