附加信息

The Australian Nugget series launched in 1986 as Perth Mint's answer to the Krugerrand and Maple Leaf, deliberately targeting the investment bullion market with a rotating kangaroo reverse design — a decision made annually to discourage melting and encourage collector retention alongside the bullion demand. The .9999 fineness was a deliberate marketing distinction from the .9167 Krugerrand, positioning Australian product as purer at a moment when Asian investment markets were growing rapidly.

Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II replaced the Maklouf effigy on Australian coinage from 1999 onward, following a standard Commonwealth update cycle.
