| Beschrijving voorzijde | The fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, rendered by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. The Queen is portrayed wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, with a delicate pearl drop earring and necklace visible. The legend ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 25 DOLLARS encircles the effigy, with the engraver's initials IRB truncated at the base of the portrait. The design is executed in high relief against a polished field, consistent with Perth Mint bullion coinage standards. |

Perth Mint's four-nines gold bullion program occupies an interesting commercial position: the .9999 fineness standard was adopted partly to undercut the Royal Canadian Mint's Maple Leaf, which had held the .9999 benchmark largely to itself through the 1980s and into the 1990s. The quarter-ounce denomination targets investors priced out of the full-ounce market without sacrificing the premium fineness that distinguishes Australian bullion from older .9167 sovereign-era coinage.
Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, used on this series from its inception, was retired across Australian coinage in 2019 in favor of Jody Clark's rendering — making the 2019 strike the final year for this obverse pairing specifically.
