Additional information

Issued to mark the 30th anniversary of Elizabeth II's coronation, this is one of several Commonwealth nations that produced commemorative silver in 1983 for the occasion. Belize, independent only since 1981, was among the newer members doing so. The .500 fineness is notably lower than the .925 used by most Commonwealth commemorative programs of the period — a budgetary decision that kept production costs down without abandoning silver entirely.
