| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau set within a recessed circular field at the centre of the skull-shaped flan. The arms feature a central escutcheon depicting a traditional Palauan scene with a sea deity and mermaid flanking a treasure chest, surmounted by a native canoe, all enclosed within a decorative border of floral ornaments and eight stars. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs above the arms, while the series title RAINBOW'S END appears in the exergue of the inner circle. The denomination 25$ is inscribed below the central device, the date 2017 appears at the base of the flan, and an individual edition number from a limited mintage of 555 pieces is stamped at the cranial apex in the format 000/555. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Palau has operated a prolific commemorative coin program since the late 1990s, licensing its sovereign issuing authority to overseas minting houses — primarily in Germany and Austria — to produce collector pieces with no expectation of domestic circulation. The "Big Skull" series sits squarely within this commercial framework, produced for the global bullion and novelty collector market rather than from any indigenous cultural or monetary necessity.
KM#552 is a 500g format, a weight class that became increasingly common among European-minted Pacific nation issues after 2010 as mints competed for shelf presence at numismatic trade shows.
