| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a sailing ship approaching a shore with a palm tree and a plough, enclosed within a shield surmounted by a ribbon bearing the national motto. The date 2003 is divided to either side of the arms, with '20' at left and '03' at right. The upper legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' arcs around the periphery, with the motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' inscribed on the scroll within the arms. A second legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' appears in smaller lettering at the base of the design. The entire motif is framed by a beaded border. |
