| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a sailing ship at sea beneath a palm tree with a rising sun in the background, and a dove in flight above; a crossed sword and rifle appear in the lower portion of the shield. The motto ribbon on the shield bears the legend THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The date 2001 is split to either side of the arms, with '20' at left and '01' at right. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs above, and a second legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA appears on a ribbon scroll below the shield. A beaded border encircles the entire design. |
