| Opmerkingen |
The Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador issued this denomination through the late 1990s under a monetary framework that would be dismantled entirely within a few years — El Salvador dollarized in January 2001, replacing the colón permanently and removing the central bank's note-issuing function altogether. This note, along with the rest of the colón series, was demonetized and withdrawn from circulation following that transition.
Thomas De La Rue printed the series in London, as they had done for El Salvador across multiple earlier series. The watermark is the sole listed security feature, modest by the standards of the period.
