Part of the American Women Quarters Program authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, the 2026 issues will mark the program's penultimate year before its conclusion. Congress structured the series to run 2022–2025, then extended it — a quiet legislative revision that added a sixth year and reshuffled which subjects appeared when.
