Obverse description Bust of George Washington facing right, rendered in the traditional portrait style used on the Washington quarter series. The obverse bears the motto IN GOD WE TRUST to the lower right, the national motto E PLURIBUS UNUM arcing above, the commemorative dual date 1776 ~ 2026 below the portrait marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, the mint mark, and designer initials JFM in the field. Washington is depicted with his characteristic powdered wig and period-appropriate attire, in keeping with the longstanding numismatic tradition established for this denomination.
