| Opmerkingen |
The Ceylon Ice & Cold Storage Company operated a network of company stores — essentially tied retail outlets — serving the plantation and commercial districts around Colombo. These fractional notes, issued in lieu of small change that was perpetually scarce in colonial Ceylon, functioned as internal currency redeemable only at the company's own stores. The Ragama branch sat on the main Colombo–Kandy rail line, which made it a practical distribution point rather than an incidental one.
Type 2 designations in this series typically reflect a change in authorization signature or a reprint following exhaustion of the first stock. Private scrip of this kind was never formally regulated under the Ceylon currency ordinances of the period.
