Opmerkingen

Series 681 MPCs were issued in August 1969 and replaced in a surprise conversion on October 7, 1969 — just ten weeks later, one of the shortest circulation windows of any MPC series. The rapid changeover was standard procedure: unannounced "C-Day" conversions were designed to trap black market operators and Vietnamese nationals who had accumulated dollars illegally, rendering their holdings worthless overnight with no warning.

The abbreviated circulation window is exactly why Series 681 notes survive in relatively high grades. Soldiers had little time to wear them out.
