Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King George VI facing left, modelled in high relief with fine detail to the hair and facial features. The unadorned portrait, designed by Thomas Humphrey Paget, is centred in a wide, flat field. The engraver's initials 'HP' appear in small letters at the base of the neck truncation. The circumferential legend reads GEORGIVS VI D:G: REX ET IND:IMP:, separated by raised dots and set close to the reeded rim.
