Additional information

Bermuda's 1984 parish series was issued as the island moved away from purely wildlife-themed coinage toward a localized civic identity — each denomination in the proof set assigned to one of the nine parishes. Southampton, on the western end of the island, lent its name to this piece in a set that was produced exclusively for collectors and never saw general circulation. The .925 silver proof issues were struck at the Royal Mint and distributed through the Bermuda Monetary Authority in limited quantities.
