Part of the RCM's NHL franchise quarter series released in time for the 2007–08 season, this issue was one of twenty-nine team-specific pieces struck simultaneously — a logistical undertaking that required coordinating separate die pairs across a single production run. The Ottawa Senators franchise itself had only returned to the NHL in 1992 after a 58-year absence, making it one of the younger clubs in a series otherwise dominated by Original Six history.
