Beschrijving keerzijde Central device depicts a finely detailed inukshuk — a traditional stone cairn erected by the Inuit peoples of Canada's Arctic regions — standing prominently in the mirror-like proof field against a deeply recessed background suggesting a northern landscape with stylized aurora borealis streaks. The engraver's initials BM appear to the lower left of the central device. The bilingual territorial name NORTHWEST TERRITORIES · TERRITOIRES DU NORD-OUEST arcs around the upper periphery within a beaded border, while the denomination 25 CENTS is inscribed along the lower exergue.

Aanvullende informatie

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's 125th anniversary of Confederation series, this issue was one of thirteen provincial and territorial quarters released in 1992 — each province and territory receiving its own reverse design. The program marked Canada's 125th year since Confederation in 1867, though the territories represented, including the Northwest Territories, had no role in that original union.

The .925 silver proof versions were sold in cased sets rather than circulated, making wear essentially nonexistent on surviving examples. KM#212a distinguishes this silver strike from the nickel circulation issue KM#212.
