Obverse description The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the monarch bare-headed, wearing a necklace and drop earrings, in right-facing profile. The portrait presents the Queen at approximately 77 years of age in a restrained, naturalistic style. The legend ELIZABETH II flanks the upper field, with D•G•REGINA and CANADA arcing along the lower periphery. The date 2013 appears within the legend.

Reverse description The reverse presents a finely detailed portrait of Canadian heroine Laura Secord facing right, rendered in frosted relief against a stippled field. To the left, a stylized Canadian Maple Leaf flag bears the inscription 1812, commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812. The design is attributed to engraver Susan Taylor and commemorates Secord's celebrated wartime journey. The denomination 25 CENTS and the name SECORD appear in the legend, with the date 1812 and the privy mark BR also present.
