| Beschrijving voorzijde | The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, rendered in the fourth definitive portrait by Susanna Blunt, depicting the monarch at approximately 77 years of age, uncrowned and bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA arcs around the upper periphery of the obverse field. The portrait is executed in a restrained, classical style consistent with standard Canadian coinage of the period. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Part of the RCM's broader coloured wildlife quarter series, the Harlequin Duck issue was produced for general circulation — an unusual choice given that most coloured coins of this period were sold exclusively as collector sets. The applied colour printing process used on circulating strikes from this era was notoriously prone to wear, and examples that passed through even modest use show measurable pigment loss around the duck's flank markings.
