Reverse description The Arms of Hamilton occupy the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a sailing ship and cinquefoils, surmounted by a lion passant crest atop a helm and mantling. The shield is supported on the dexter by a mermaid and on the sinister by a sea-lion, both rendered in fine relief. A ribbon scroll below the shield bears the motto SPARSA COLLEGIT. The denomination TWENTY-FIVE CENTS curves along the upper rim, and the date 1984 appears in the lower field beneath the arms.
