Additional information

Trinidad and Tobago gained independence in 1962 but retained British coinage until the Central Bank was established in 1964 and a full decimal currency introduced. This 1974–1976 issue falls within the early years of the republic — the country having severed ties with the Crown in 1976 — meaning pieces from that final year represent the last of this design type struck under Elizabeth II's authority before the republican transition necessitated updated coinage.
