Reverse description A tall, slender coconut palm tree occupies the central field, flanked symmetrically on either side by the denomination numerals 25, with the word CENTS inscribed below in Latin script. The country name CEYLON appears within a curved banner at the top of the design. Tamil numerals and script (௨௫ சதம்) are arranged to the left, and Sinhala script denoting twenty-five cents is arranged to the right. The date, for example 1909, appears in the lower exergue flanked by two raised dots. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border.
