| 备注 |
Dominick's Finer Foods was a Chicago-area supermarket chain founded in 1918 that grew to become one of the dominant grocery retailers in the Midwest before Safeway acquired it in 1998. Scrip of this kind — fractional paper issued by private retailers — was a common promotional and change-making tool in mid-twentieth-century American retail, particularly before coin shortages normalized the practice and before state regulations gradually pushed it out.
Retailer-issued fractional notes occupy an awkward space in collecting: neither fully exonumia nor conventional notaphily, they are catalogued inconsistently and frequently surface without provenance.
