备注

Canadian Tire's paper coupons — colloquially called "Canadian Tire money" — were a loyalty scheme launched in 1958, paying out fractions of a purchase's value in redeemable scrip. The British American Bank Note Company, the same Ottawa firm responsible for official Bank of Canada issues, printed these to banknote-grade security standards, which is precisely why they circulated so freely outside Canadian Tire stores, accepted by corner stores and individuals across the country as informal small change.

By 1985 the program had become a genuine cultural institution. The paper format was retired in 2012 when the corporation shifted to a digital rewards system, making all surviving paper issues obsolete by corporate decision rather than inflation or crisis.
