The camp issued its own scrip denominations to allow prisoners limited purchasing power within the canteen system while preventing any accumulation of Canadian currency that could facilitate escape. The "Angler" designation has caused confusion: Angler was a separate Ontario internment camp (Camp 101W), and some scrip pieces from Lethbridge carry that name due to administrative overlap in the Canadian POW camp numbering. Whether this note originates from the Alberta facility or the Ontario one remains a point of genuine dispute among collectors.
