Comments

Military payment scrip issued within a specific unit mess or club environment — not an MPC series note, and not redeemable outside the issuing club. The 9th Infantry Division was based at Bearcat and later Dong Tam during 1968, operating through the Mekong Delta under the Mobile Riverine Force. Club chits like this circulated as a practical substitute for cash in controlled environments where preventing pilferage and black-market leakage of U.S. currency was a persistent command concern.

Most were discarded or destroyed when the club closed or personnel rotated out. Survivors are scarce largely because nobody thought to keep them.
