| Beschrijving voorzijde | The Maltese coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a coastal scene incorporating a rising sun, a traditional Maltese fishing boat (Luzzu), a shovel, a pitchfork, and an Opuntia (prickly pear) cactus. The shield is rendered in fine detail, reflecting the heraldic emblems adopted upon Malta's proclamation as a republic. The circular legend surrounding the arms reads REPUBBLIKA TA' MALTA 1975, denoting the Republic of Malta and the commemorative year. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Malta declared itself a republic on December 13, 1974, severing its last constitutional ties to the British Crown after a decade of independence. This commemorative marks exactly one year from that date. The choice of bronze for a 25-cent denomination was deliberate — the silver version (KM#29) was struck for collectors, while this alloy entered general circulation, making it the everyday coin most Maltese actually handled during the anniversary year.
