| Beschrijving voorzijde | Polychrome note with a central circular vignette enclosing a view of the Castle of Barberà, framed by decorative circular guilloche motifs. The denomination and issuing authority appear in letterpress across the upper and lower registers. The overall design employs a multicolour underprint in a style typical of Catalan Civil War emergency municipal issues. |

Vilassar de Dalt is a small municipality in the Maresme comarca north of Barcelona, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional paper currency in 1937 to compensate for the near-total disappearance of metallic coin from circulation. The Republican government's inability to supply small change at the local level forced municipalities — down to the most modest — to print their own. Imprenta El Secretariat Català handled a remarkable volume of these emergency municipal issues out of Barcelona, making it one of the more prolific printers of Catalan wartime scrip.
