Valverde del Júcar is a small municipality in Cuenca province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it issued its own fractional emergency paper during the Civil War after metallic coin effectively vanished from circulation. These local ayuntamiento and consejo issues were a patchwork response to a nationwide small-change crisis, with each community producing whatever it could manage — often on poor-quality stock, rubber-stamped rather than printed, and in tiny quantities. The Garicano-Moragas catalog entry for this note (1535-A) confirms the series exists, but surviving examples are genuinely scarce given the ephemeral nature of wartime municipal scrip at this denomination.
