| Beschrijving voorzijde | The Peruvian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield with a vicuña passant at upper left, a cinchona tree at upper right, and a cornucopia at the base; the shield is surmounted by a civic wreath and flanked by sprays of palm and laurel tied with a ribbon at the base. The mintmark YB and the date 1859 appear in the lower exergue. The circular legend REPUBLICA PERUANA LIMA 9 DECS. FINO runs around the upper periphery, indicating the mint city and silver fineness, all enclosed within a beaded border. |
