Torredembarra is a small coastal municipality in the Tarragonès comarca, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency when the Republican government's coin supply collapsed after 1936. The Ajuntament printed these locally through Imprenta Sonsona — a press operating in the same town — which was entirely typical of the decentralized improvisation that characterizes the whole moneda local phenomenon.

Turró catalogues over 2,500 such municipal issues from this period, and Torredembarra's 25 Céntimos sits deep in that list without any documented printing anomalies or known varieties.
