One of hundreds of emergency fractional notes — "moneda de paper" — issued by Catalan municipalities during the Civil War after small metallic coinage vanished from circulation almost entirely by mid-1936. The Republican government's inability to supply sufficient small change forced local councils across Catalonia to print their own, giving towns like Reus effective monetary autonomy by necessity rather than by any formal arrangement.

Ferrando printed locally, which kept turnaround fast but quality variable across the series. Turró catalogued over 2,000 distinct municipal issues from this period; Reus produced several denominations.
