Opmerkingen

Quintanar de la Orden — or possibly one of several other Quintanar municipalities in the region — issued emergency paper fractions during the Spanish Civil War as the Republican zone hemorrhaged its metallic coinage into hoarding and the war economy. These consejo municipal issues were hyper-local stopgaps, printed in tiny quantities, often on whatever stock was available, and redeemed — when they were redeemed at all — within the issuing town's immediate commercial orbit.

The Gari Montse cataloguing of Spanish Civil War local issues spans thousands of entries precisely because no central authority controlled this proliferation. Survival rates for Cuenca province issues are uneven at best.
