Puzol is a small municipality north of Valencia, and like hundreds of Valencian towns during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional currency in 1937 when Republican-zone small change effectively collapsed. The Consejo Municipal had no printing infrastructure of its own — these local emergency notes (known collectively as *billetes de necesidad*) were typically produced by whatever commercial printer was available regionally, and quality varied enormously between issues.
The Turró and Gari catalogues both list this piece, though surviving examples are uncommon enough that auction appearances remain infrequent. At under 3,000 square millimeters, this is among the smaller physical formats produced during the Spanish Republican municipal issues.
