Puebla de Almoradiel is a small municipality in Toledo province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional emergency currency when coin effectively vanished from circulation in 1936–37. The Republican government formally authorized local councils to produce these vales and cartones, but production standards varied wildly — most were printed on whatever paper was available, with a rubber municipal stamp as the sole authentication measure.

The Gari Mon reference places this squarely within the documented local issues, though surviving quantities remain poorly recorded. Provincial Castilian issues of this size are frequently found with stamp misalignment or ink bleed from improvised stamping conditions.
